Chamber News – October Issue

Thoughts From Your President

Daniel & Monika Bennie from Wildwood Gallery and Denmark Wine Lovers Tour were the Hosts this month of Business after Hours. This allowed over 30 members to view their new premises following the shift from Short Street. During the evening we heard from Rae Powys (Herbal Tonic Natural Medicine Clinic) and Grant & Liz Turnbull (Datacom). We are always interested in hearing about new up and coming enterprises in Denmark. I would like to thank Daniel & Monika for their warm hospitality.

We have selected and awarded the prize for the Directory 2009 cover. The winner was Emma Williamson Age 5. Emma’s tagline was “Denmark ...its only natural to love the family fun in the sun.” Well done Emma.

Christmas is nearly upon us and we are moving to our next project – Xmas Fest – Late Night Shopping. This is to be held on the 11th December and anyone that would like to help please contact the office or Gail Guthrie.

You could donate anything that you feel would promote your business in the eyes of the Denmark Community. You will of course be acknowledged as a contributor.

NOT TOO LATE TO CO-OPERATE

Western Power’s and Water Corporation’s surveys of appliances and their

use at peak load times continues until 7 November.  In order to gather

this base line data for our community, the co-operation of businesses,

as well as residents, is still needed.

There is no cost involved

other than your time of up to 45 minutes depending on how many appliances you have.  As for the Compact Fluorescent Lights - many businesses are already lit by fluorescent tubes so the free installation of bulbs may not be an incentive for you to help with this study.

BUT by making that phone call (1800 882 803) and agreeing to an appliance survey, you will be helping Western Power and Water Corporation as they face the problems created by increasing demand for services because they have to find environmentally friendly, sustainable solutions for a place they are calling Green Town.
